SAN FRANCISCO, CA --- Mark Dec. 13, 2008 on your calendar of significant events in the history of Concordia Athletics. It's the night when the NAIA's No. 4-ranked Eagles' 82-61 win over NCAA Div. II San Francisco State gave head coach Ken Ammann his 200th career victory.

The win over the NCAA Div. II Gators also stands out as Concordia's first matchup--and first win--against an NCAA Div. I or II school since the 2005-06 season, when the Eagles played NCAA Div. I foes Kent State (OH) and Mississippi Valley State, picking up a, 77-73, win against the latter.

"I've been fortunate to have a lot of great young men come through this program who have inspired me each season," Ammann said. "I don't pay too much attention to the 200 wins, because I think of each season as its own particular journey. Every season is special in its own way, and I'm enjoying watching the guys come together this year and win a game against a tough, physical team like we did last night."

Ammann's 200 victories--the most in school history--rank him third among current Golden State Athletic Conference coaches at their respective institutions, and his .781 (200-56) career winning percentage is the highest among his GSAC peers.

On the road to 200 wins, Ammann has led three of his previous seven Concordia squads to a berth in the NAIA National Championship game, becoming the first--and presently, the only--GSAC school to capture the national title in the 2002-03 campaign.

Concordia's three appearances in the NAIA National Championships title game during Ammann's tenure are two more than the nearist competition among GSAC programs.

Ammann surpassed former head coach Greg Marshall's 183 career victories for first on the school all-time charts last year. He's just the third head coach since the program began in 1981.

Off to a 2-0 start in the GSAC season, the Eagles are vying to become just the second team in conference history to win three consecutive GSAC titles while aiming at their sixth appearance at the NAIA National Championships in the past seven years.

The Eagles take on NCAA Div. II Cal State Monterey Bay Saturday night (Dec. 13) at 5:30 p.m. in the San Francisco State Invitational.
