Sooner Athletic Conference

  • Sooner Preseason

Southwestern Assemblies of God University is the choice among Sooner Athletic Conference coaches to win the men's basketball title according to results from the annual pre-season poll. The Lions, under the leadership of veteran head coach Donnie Bostwick, received seven of nine first-place votes and finished with 96 points. SAGU finished last season with a 22-11 record and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament.

Mid-America-Christian, the regular-season champion, and Wayland Baptist, the SAC tournament champion, each polled 79 points to share second place.  Both schools are under the direction of new head coaches, Josh Gamblin at MACU; and Ty Harrelson at WBU.

The remainder of poll includes John Brown in fourth with 69 points, Texas Wesleyan in fifth with 65 points and Oklahoma City in sixth with 62 points. The final teams were Science and Arts in seventh with 41 points, Southwestern Christian in eighth with 39 points and St. Gregory's in ninth with 37 points. Conference newcomer Bacone was picked 10th with 21 points.

SAC teams will use a double round-robin scheduling model, in which each team plays a home and away match against each of the other teams. The final regular-season standings will determine the parings for the conference post-season tournament scheduled for March 2-5, 2015 in Waxahachie, Texas on the campus of Southwestern Assemblies of God University.
