I've been associated with NAIA athletics for 29 years. Tonight was one of the best nights I've had covering or watching NAIA sports.
Sure my team won both games of a double-header tonight, but it was more than the wins.
Bethel University was a great host to Trevecca. Their fans cheered and supported their teams. Their Pep Band really provided pep and life to the game. Maybe they played the ESPN theme a few too many times, but they did it well. Their fans had fun with our coach and players and cheered without being ugly... it was just a great atmosphere for college basketball.
Matt Swinea the SID for Bethel was professional and led a great crew of stats people and scorers table personnel. Everyone was helpful to the visitors all the way down to the Starbucks coffee that still runs through my veins and keeps me wide awake at 2:42 a.m. Matt you are true joy to work with and professional in your work. Thanks for all you do.
Glenn Hayes the athletic director was a gentleman, even in defeat he came and spent several minutes talking to us after our broadcast had ended and the only people remaining were the College Fanz crew and those of us in the Trevecca radio crew. He is one of the true gentlemen in college athletics. He's a Cardinals fan, so that is a given that he would be classy. Thanks Coach...
I also wanted to commend the people with College Fanz. They did a great job and produced a great product. They were wonderful to work with and all have great passion for what they are doing and for the NAIA. I spent a few years producing live television and was around some real pros. This crew was serious about their craft and used the Bethel volunteers to round out the crew and produce a quality product.
I don't think the people at College Fanz can get enough thanks from those of us benefiting from their work. So, let me say thanks for investing in the NAIA and helping make the NAIA a little more accessable to its fans.
The games tonight provided you with great material and I can't wait to see the OnDemand product soon.
I'm the SID and radio announcer for Trevecca, but I think everyone there on Thursday night in McKenzie were winners for the product that was produced. Bethel's teams fought hard and each deserved to win. They are coached by quality men and I wish them well the rest of the season, except when they come to Moore Gym in February when it will be our turn to return the favor and be gracious hosts. I hope we do as well as Bethel did tonight, all except allowing them to leave with a W...
Thanks College Fanz and thanks Bethel for a great evening of college athletics at its best and the way it should be every night across our great country.
Oh, next time limit me to just one Starbucks so I can get in bed a little sooner and make sure I have time to get over to that pizza place next to McDonalds. _________________ Purple Pride |

Purple Pride...I can one up you! We got treated to lunch at "The Dinner Bell." I would take that over your Starbucks ANY day!
Thank you so much for your kind words and remarks. As a member of the College Fanz Crew I know I had a BLAST at Bethel. The games were awesome to watch and definitely worth covering! I don't think we could've asked for two closer games! A women's game that wasn't decided until the last few minutes and a men's game that went into double overtime! Now that's what college sports are about!
It was a pleasure to meet so many wonderful people from both Trevecca Nazarene and Bethel University and I am so thankful for everyone's help and kindness. I know I would love to cover either of these teams again in the future and I hope our schedule allows us to do so!
Again thank you for allowing us to cover your program and for giving us two great games! |

Thursday, February 25 Union visits Trevecca for a double header. Come on down, we'll take you to Rotiers - One of the place Jimmy Buffett's top 10 cheeseburger's listed on his album "Cheeseburger in Paradise" and the only thing better is their chocolate shake. _________________ Purple Pride |

DON'T TEMPT ME PURPLE!!! ANYTHING to do with Jimmy Buffett and I'm there! Haha! We'll see what we've got on our schedule for then...also...Wildcat...I'm pretty sure the women's game should be up shortly if it's not yet. Sometimes we have a little trouble getting them to upload but it should be on there before too long. |
